This game, made to celebrate the emergence of Brood X cicadas in 2021, is a magnetic poetry toy in which your written creations are yelled back at you by a cacophony of voices. It doesn’t have a whole lot of narrative content, so my role, along with collaborating with my team on the design, was largely curating and sorting lists of words. As someone who loves thinking about the sounds and textures of words, this was a lot of fun for me. I pulled words from a number of poems and articles about cicadas, as well as from my mind and whatever I was reading at the time.
